WEBSITE DESIGN · RESEARCH · UX/UI
Every visit starts with a purpose.
I design around the complete user journey: from the first impression to finding information, making an enquiry or completing the task that brought someone here. Research, communication, visual design and technical delivery work together.
Designed around people. Built for a useful outcome.
A minimalist information site and an expressive visual story can both work well. The right approach depends on who is visiting, what they need, the device they use and what the organisation can maintain. Clear navigation, readable content, accessible controls and mobile layouts make the journey practical.
One designer. Several ways to understand the problem.
I’m Rain Lee Lin Jun, a psychology graduate, Master of International Business student at Monash University Malaysia, multidisciplinary designer, entrepreneur and proprietor of rainleelj.com. Psychology informs how I consider attention, comprehension and behaviour; Communication and Gender Studies inform language, representation and audience context. Business study supports feasibility and priorities, while earlier engineering and IT study supports technical evaluation and implementation.
Discover → Research → Evaluate → Design → Test → Implement → Improve
A clear process, with decisions before construction.
For redevelopment, I begin with what already exists: what works, what fails and whose needs are underserved. Discovery and research may take approximately two weeks, depending on scope, access and participant availability. A smaller project uses proportionate research; a full survey is not mandatory for every website.
- 01
Discover
Agree the intended tasks, stakeholders, constraints, budget and success measures. Audit existing content, systems, URLs and essential services.
- 02
Research
Use agreed interviews, surveys, analytics and usability assessment. Explore demographic and psychographic context, audience segments and evidence-informed personas; avoid stereotypes.
- 03
Evaluate
Compare targeted fixes, content restructuring, platform changes and redevelopment. Present cost, accessibility, maintainability and technical trade-offs, then recommend a feasible route.
- 04
Design
Shape information architecture, content strategy, brand identity and visual storytelling into responsive UI and task flows. Keep key actions easy to find.
- 05
Test
Check prototypes and agreed journeys, mobile layouts, keyboard access, forms and language clarity. User testing is planned where included, with limitations recorded.
- 06
Implement
Build the approved solution, preserve agreed URLs and integrations, check content and permissions, and hand over administrator access and editing guidance.
- 07
Improve
Review agreed measures after launch, prioritise useful changes and document what the evidence supports. Further work follows the accepted support scope.
What discovery should leave you with
A prioritised audit, audience and task map, content structure, feasible alternatives with trade-offs, and a recommended scope. The written package records included research, survey dates, recommendations and deliverables so included preparation does not become a surprise extra.
Measure carefully. Explain the uncertainty.
Where suitable data exists, I can use time-series analysis, regression and comparative metrics to examine trends or model possible improvements. Seasonality, campaigns, missing data and sample size matter. A forecast is a scenario with assumptions, not a verified result; a before/after difference alone does not prove a redesign caused it. No specific sales, conversion or ranking increase is promised.
UX / Ti-Ratana Heights
Ti-Ratana Heights: a welcome that leads towards a visit
Community website contribution · Seri Kembangan, Malaysia. The live website publicly credits “Designed by Rain Lee Lin Jun” for the Ti-Ratana Youth Buddhist Section. This is community portfolio evidence, not a claim of a paid commission or organisational endorsement.
- 01
Welcome
Buddhist imagery and Buddha rūpas establish the setting and a respectful first impression.
- 02
Understand
Introduce the institution and its purpose before asking a newcomer to choose.
- 03
Discover
Bring activities and upcoming events into view so interest has somewhere to go.
- 04
Explore
Offer further institutional information for visitors who need context or reassurance.
- 05
Visit
Finish with contact and visiting information; the intended desktop imagery progresses towards the entrance and gate.
Usability considerations: offer direct event and contact links for returning visitors, keep text readable over imagery, optimise image weight, preserve a logical mobile reading order, and ensure essential visiting details do not depend on following the full visual story.
These steps describe the intended desktop experience. Visitor testing would be needed to establish how people actually follow it. No usability-test results or performance improvement are claimed.
